Waitlist status discrepancy between platform display and organizer communication
Checking Application Results Notifications

# My Application Shows a Different Status Than the Organizer's Email — What's Going On?
If your JAS dashboard and an organizer's email show different statuses (for example, your dashboard shows "Waitlisted" but the email says something else, or vice versa), the organizer's official communication is your authoritative source — and any questions about waitlist position or movement must go directly to the event organizer.
---
## Why the statuses may not match
JAS displays the status that the event organizer has set within the platform. However, organizers sometimes send their own letters or emails outside of JAS — drafted before they update the platform, or worded differently than the platform's standard status labels. This can create a momentary mismatch between what you read in an email and what your dashboard reflects.
## Steps to sort it out
1. **Check your current status on JAS.**
Log in and go to [/account/applications](/account/applications). Find the event in question and note the exact status label shown.
2. **Compare it to the organizer's message.**
If the organizer's letter says "Waitlisted" but your dashboard shows something different (or shows no status at all), take note of both — you'll need this information when you contact them.
3. **Contact the event organizer directly.**
JAS does not manage waitlists, assign waitlist positions, or determine when or whether a waitlisted artist is offered a spot. Those decisions belong entirely to the organizer. Look for the organizer's contact information on the event prospectus page for that show, or in any previous emails they have sent you.
Specifically ask them:
- Which status is current and correct?
- Is there a numbered waitlist position, and if so, what is yours?
- How and when will waitlisted artists be notified if a spot opens?
4. **Check your JAS messages.**
Some organizers communicate through the platform's messaging system. Visit your [Messages Inbox](/messages) to see if any clarifying note was sent there.
5. **If you need help from JAS support**, you can reach us at [/help/contact-support](/help/contact-support). We can confirm what status the organizer has set on your application, but we cannot speak to waitlist rankings or organizer decisions.

## Good to know
- JAS reflects whatever status the organizer assigns. If the platform shows "Waitlisted," that is what the organizer has entered — but only they can explain what it means for your specific event.
- Waitlist policies (position numbering, notification timelines, acceptance procedures) vary by event. There is no universal JAS waitlist system.
