Payment and Refund Policy

Effective October 27, 2026 for everyone · Last updated October 27, 2026 · Version refunds-2026-10-27

This page puts what our Terms of Service say about paying and refunds in plain words, in one place. It adds nothing to them. On holds, shipping coverage and refunds, the Terms govern over this page (Terms of Service §1.4). Some ways of paying may be switched off at times; where a feature is off, the page says so and nothing on it can take a payment (Terms of Service §7.8).

1. Who you pay

  • You buy from the artist, organization or professional who offers the artwork, ticket, booth, service or membership, not from us. We are the seller only of our own memberships, when we offer them (Terms of Service §7.1).
  • PayPal processes every payment, except a ticket payment made through Stripe Connect when we offer it, which Stripe processes. We are not a bank or an insurer (Terms of Service §7.1).
  • The price you see is the price you pay, before shipping and any sales or admissions tax shown separately (Terms of Service §7.2).

2. Application, late, booth and acceptance fees

  • The organization sets these fees and shows them before you pay (Terms of Service §7.3).
  • By default you pay the organization directly, into its own PayPal account, and only our fee comes to us. A few shows that cannot move to that yet have asked us to collect their fees for them until their replacement is in place: you then pay Juried Art Services through PayPal, and we pass the fee to the organization. Either way, the page says before you pay who receives your payment (Terms of Service §7.1).
  • The organization, not the artist, bears the card processing on these fees (Terms of Service §7.3).
  • Refunds follow the organization's own refund policy, and we do not override its decision except for fraud. If an organization publishes no refund policy of its own, these fees are refunded in full if the organization cancels the show and otherwise are not refunded. An organization may also issue a refund from its admin site where the payment method supports it (Terms of Service §7.6).

3. Tickets

  • The organization sets each ticket's face value and keeps it. The one ticket price you see already includes our per-ticket fee and payment processing (Terms of Service §7.2 and §7.3).
  • By default your payment goes straight to the account the organization connected, through the PayPal Commerce Platform or, when we offer it, Stripe Connect, and our per-ticket fee is paid to us from the same payment. Where that is not yet possible, PayPal pays it to the PayPal account the organization set for the show. We do not sell tickets for a show whose ticket payments would be received by us (Terms of Service §7.1).
  • For an event held in Florida, Florida's tax on admissions is calculated at checkout on the whole ticket price and shown separately, unless the organization has given us proof that its event is exempt. It is paid with the ticket price to the organization, which remits it (Terms of Service §7.7).
  • Each organization sets its ticket refund policy within our default, and the ticket page shows it before you buy. If the organization publishes no refund policy, a ticket is refunded in full if it cancels the event and otherwise is not refunded. When you ask for a refund under the organization's policy, our per-ticket fee and processing are not refunded, and the ticket page says before you buy how much of the price is refundable. If the organization cancels the event, you receive the full price you paid, including our fee and processing. The organization may also issue a refund from its admin site where the payment method supports it (Terms of Service §7.6).

4. Art Purchases

When we offer Art Purchases:

  • Price. The price shown for a work is the full price, before shipping and any tax shown separately. Our platform fee, 20% of the sale price, and PayPal's processing fee come out of the seller's proceeds; neither is added to your price (Terms of Service §7.2 and §7.3).
  • Shipping. You pay the carrier's shipping cost at checkout, shown before you pay. The carrier's declared-value coverage, which we buy for up to the sale price and which protects Juried Art Services and the seller, not you, is part of the price shown for the work and comes out of the seller's proceeds. We are not selling insurance to you. International duties and taxes are yours (Terms of Service §7.5).
  • Sales tax. Where the law makes us the marketplace provider responsible for sales tax, including on Art Purchases delivered in Florida, we calculate, collect and remit it and show it separately at checkout; elsewhere, the seller is responsible for it (Terms of Service §7.7).
  • Where the money waits. PayPal pays the seller's share into the seller's own PayPal account, and a share that waits for delivery is held by PayPal, not by us. It is released at the later of seven days after payment and 72 hours after the carrier records delivery, and we do not release it while a dispute is open. PayPal releases any share it still holds 28 days after payment, even if a dispute is still open; a dispute still open then goes through PayPal's own dispute process and the seller's refund obligations under the Seller Terms (Terms of Service §7.1 and §7.4).
  • Lost or damaged. If a shipment is lost, or arrives damaged and you report the damage to us within 7 days after delivery and keep the work and its packaging for the carrier's inspection, we make sure you are refunded the price you paid through PayPal. Whether that refund comes from the seller's share or from a claim on the carrier's coverage is settled between us and the seller (Terms of Service §7.5).
  • Other refunds. A refund of an Art Purchase follows these hold and shipping rules (Terms of Service §7.6).
  • The seller's contact. Each seller's customer-service contact appears, with our policies, on the seller's gallery and on each order confirmation (Terms of Service §7.7).

5. Professional services

  • Paid consultations, when we offer them. The professional sets a cancellation policy that is shown before you book. If the professional cancels or does not attend, you receive the full price you paid. Our fee comes out of the professional's proceeds, and the professional's share is released on payment, because a consultation is delivered at the meeting itself (Terms of Service §7.2, §7.4 and §7.6).
  • Hiring a professional. When we offer paid introductions, the first payment runs through the Services, and later, separate work between you is arranged directly, fee-free. We do not supervise the work and we do not arbitrate quality disputes (Terms of Service §8.3).

6. Memberships

When we offer memberships, they renew automatically at the price shown when you join, charged to the PayPal account you approve, until you cancel. Before you pay we show the price, how often you are charged, that it renews until you cancel, and how to cancel, and we ask you to agree to the renewal separately. You can cancel at any time from your account's membership page or by emailing support@jurying.net; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, and no further charge is made. We email you notice of a price increase between 7 and 30 days before it takes effect and, for an annual membership, a reminder between 30 and 60 days before each renewal date. If we ever show an offer when you cancel online, a "Click to cancel" button stays next to it the whole time (Terms of Service §7.6).

7. Fee changes

The current fee schedule is published on the Services. We post the new fee schedule on the Services before a fee increase takes effect, with no set notice period. When we can, we may also send sellers a courtesy notice about 30 days ahead, but we do not promise one (Terms of Service §7.3). Membership price increases are announced as section 6 says.

8. Chargebacks and fraud

A seller bears chargebacks on its own sales. If we ever pay a Gallerists & Dealers partner's share ourselves, a share already paid out when a sale is charged back is recovered from the partner's future payouts. When we see fraud, we may pause payouts, cancel orders, ask PayPal to refund or hold a payment, and report to PayPal and law enforcement (Terms of Service §7.9).

9. How to ask for a refund
